Speaker Introduction

Dr. Kal Karim is an associate professor of organic and computational Chemistry and a member of the Chemical Biology Group in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Leicester. He received his B.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Essex in 1990 and 1995, respectively. He joined the Department of Chemistry at the University of Leicester in 2013 after spending 15 years as a research fellow at Cranfield University in the UK. Associate Professor Krim is internationally recognized for his work on the computational design of synthetic receptors and has published more than 60 papers on the design of molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) for sensors and diagnostics in clinical, environmental and food applications. His current research interests are the predictive design of nanoparticles for diagnostic and therapeutic applications.
