DLI 2021 “Charm of Speaking” English Speech Contest was ended with Success

The English speech contest of DLI——the Charm of Speaking was ended successfully on March 31th. The competition was divided into the preliminary and the final parts. A total of 12 contestants from different colleges and grades participated. Judges of the final are Ms Guo Shuang, Ms Zhao Tianwei from the DUT side, and Ms Juliet Tsioras, Mr Michael Cook and Mr Jeremy from the University of Leicester.

 

 

 

 

With full preparation and professional training provided by Ms Guo Shuang, Ms Zhao Tianwei, all of the contestants delivered a splendid speech with confidence. The final results consist of 40% of the preliminary scores and 60% of the final results. After the fierce and wonderful competition, Zhou Miaomiao, from DUT School of Foreign Language (SFL) own the First Prize with a 93.52 score, Tang Xinyi and Zhang Yiming, from DLI own the Second Prize, and Feng Luqiao, Zhang Shan from DLI and Wang Guanchi from SFL own the Third Prize.

 

 

 

 

 

Moreover, there were also some novel and interesting audience interaction sessions such as ‘sign-in and lottery draw’ and ‘re-post and collect likes in QQ’ at the competition site. The lucky dogs will receive special souvenirs.

 

 

 

Both teachers from DUT and tutors from UoL spoke highly of the speeches. This competition not only intensifies students’ passion for learning English, stimulates integrated development but also expands the international perspectives of our students.
